I will not be in the habit of sharing my new newsletter from my old one because, as any person possessing a passing familiarity with modern culture will understand, doing so risks the sort of utter annihilation otherwise seen in the collision of matter and anti-matter. It's basic science.

But my first new newsletter just went out, looking at NCAA basketball (it is centered in Connecticut, after all) and the number of Americans who live in medium-sized communities (also relevant to much of Connecticut).

It includes, for example, this chart of the longest game-winning shots in NCAA tournament history, the fourth-longest of which knocked Duke out of this year's bracket.

The image above links to a gift version of the column, so you don't need a subscription. But you can also sign up to get it in your inbox for free.

A number of you have already signed up, for which I am very appreciative. My plan with the new endeavor is to continue to bring you the same mix of absurdity and numbers that you've come to tolerate.

And if sharing the new stuff here with you, my old friends, risks the existence of the universe? Well, that's a risk that I, for one, am occasionally willing to take.
